Neurodivergent Polymath
I graduated in audio engineering and multimedia, which led to making and performing electronic music. I later ran the multimedia department at a technology college before spending 10 years as a research artist and lecturer at the Australian National University. During my time at ANU, I developed a video art practice, exhibited extensively, and worked on large-scale public art commissions. After leaving academia, I founded businesses in drone technology, continued producing art commissions, and established a creative agency, which I still run.
Currently, I continue my art practice while managing Big Creative and building Vanitas, a blockchain-based art company, all while evolving the Freemind ecosystem to inspire creators worldwide.
My work has been exhibited in leading galleries across Australia and internationally, including the National Gallery of Australia, the Museum of Old and New Art (MONA), and the Perth Centre for Photography.
I’ve been a finalist in awards such as the IRIS Award, the Josephine Ulrick and Win Schubert Photography Award, and the John Fries Memorial Prize. I’ve also completed large-scale public art commissions for organizations like the National Film and Sound Archive, Experimenta Media Arts, and Karratha Airport, combining conceptual ideas with technical innovation.
My first exhibition was Mobile Journeys, a national arts initiative that explored the creative potential of mobile devices. Presented at the Sydney Opera House during D>Art05 by dLux Media Arts, ANAT, and AIMIA, this project ignited my passion for merging art and technology. Building on this, I later developed Art Machine, an interactive exhibition where digital art machines transformed public submissions into dynamic, collaborative installations.
Today, I continue to develop new work while building a blockchain-based art company.
My first teaching gig was training animators in Flash for the John Callahan Quads animation series. I then spent four years running the multimedia department at SAE Technology College, followed by ten years as a lecturer in Digital Arts at the Australian National University, where I taught Interactive Media Arts, Video Art, and Internet Art.
After my time at ANU, I taught extensively at universities, photography houses, and colleges across Australia. I’ve collaborated with institutions such as Murdoch University, Charles Sturt University, and TAFE Western Australia. My partnerships include organizations like Leica, Camera Electronic, and C.R. Kennedy, as well as government agencies such as the Australian Department of Defence. Additionally, I’ve contributed to public projects with the City of Perth, developed work for the Pilbara Ports Authority, and participated in cultural events like the Corona Sunsets Music Festival.
